This CD is a collection of songs Luna wrote and composed over a period of 5 years since the release of her third album “Wonderful life”.
Most of the album was recorded in Schalk Joubert’s house on Monterosso Wine Farm outside Stellenbosch. The result is a raw, stripped and honest sound which reveals the emotion and stories in Luna’s songs so much more effectively. In this album Luna also dabbles in country and blues, surprises with a happy song or two and introduces her first ever a capella song.

Singer, Andriëtte Norman agreed to record a duet with Luna. “Find your light” is a positive song in which these to songstresses’ voices gel in the most incredible way.

Peter Mitchell (or Pietman, from the “Boer and Brit” show with Bok van Blerk) acted as Luna’s official backing vocalist. This term does not do him justice. His vocal contributions stretch far beyond backing vocals. Luna sees him as a fellow singer on this album. His interpretation and performance in love song “This Space” is goosebump-beautiful.
Singer-Songwriter, Gerald Clark delivered an emotional performance in the duet, One day. This song was written by Luna especially for Gerald Clark and herself – and was performed as part of the LOVEMORE show – a music production Luna and Gerald have been working on for the last 2 years. Luna decided to record this song due to its popularity at LOVEMORE shows.

This is Luna’s first project as independent artist and she co-produced this album.
In Luna’s words:
This album took me just over one and a half years to record. As independent artist who funded my own album and marketing (on a social worker’s salary!), I can honestly say – it was an interesting journey. One that was tough at times, but most definitely worth it.
“Wonderful life” is about the light and dark side of life, the undeniable relationship between these two opposites, and how we cannot exist without either of them. It is about dreams and fears, restrictions and freedom, about truth and lies, addictive desires and love, about simplicity versus chaos, about venturing into the unknown vs staying where it is comfortable and safe, it’s about fantasy in a world full of harsh realities.
Released in 2005
This much anticipated album was recorded and mixed at Sunset Recording Studios, Stellenbosch and was produced by Schalk Joubert. Also involved in this production as well as being the manager of Luna’s career is Francious Kruger (Springbok Nude Girls.)
‘Missing Pieces’ is a selection of upbeat pop songs (‘Somewhere Beautiful’, ‘Sticky Situation’ )and dark introspective ballads (‘Roller Coaster’, ‘Fire Tonight’).
Luna’s distinctive sound of folk flavoured adult contemporary pop also weaves through the album and each song is carefully soul stamped.
In Luna’s own words:
We recorded this EP over 3 days at Sunset Studios. It was pretty much a live recording. It was my first real album making experience in studio and was very exciting for me. Most of these songs were written during my first couple of years at university (1998 – 2002), although one of them originated from my high school years. This was my first album and opened many doors in the SA music scene for me. I am very grateful towards drummer of the Springbok Nude Girls, Francious Kruger – who financed my first album.
Every decade or so, somewhere on planet earth, an artist appears on the scene who can truly claim to be described in terms of the following attributes: absolutely original, unique, unequaled, unusual, remarkable, having no like, soul healing …. catch the drift? This is LUNA.
